Choosing Elementary School Photographers – Part I

If you look on the wall of any mother’s home you will find cherished memories framed for every year. No matter how silly the photo, school photographs are remembered for a lifetime. Like most things that have a deep rooted tradition, technology has made elementary school pictures much more exciting. Many schools go with the traditional school pose for their fall program. But did you know a lot of schools use spring pictures as a fundraiser and have fun doing it?

Things to Consider when Choosing an Elementary School Photographer

Before you can think about how school photography can be a great fundraiser, you first have to choose the right photographer. For school photographers in San Diego, most decisions are made by the administrative staff, while others are left to the PTO or PTA. However, with school staffs being spread so thin these days, many schools are leaving the decision to the PTO.

There are so many school photographers available today that the decision to choose a school photographer can be a difficult one. A school photographer in San Diego is going to have a different program than a local company in a small town.

Listen to word of mouth. Good school photographers will have people talking about them. They will also have a good selection of experienced, professional school photographers to run your school picture day. It is always good to take a look at the company’s website to see their overall philosophy.

Something else to consider when choosing a photographer is who is actually taking the school pictures. You might want to ask for sample pictures taken by the actual photographers who will be at your school picture day. Many schools ask to meet the photographers who will be working at their school, which isn’t a bad idea. You want a photographer who will allow the kids to relax, because when kids are relaxed they take better pictures. This in turn leads to parents who are satisfied with their school pictures.

Another consideration when selecting a photography company is how much work will be required of the school. Many companies provide all the staff needed for picture day and require no volunteers from the school. When a company takes most of the work off of the school they are well valued.

Other photographers prefer teacher and parent volunteer involvement on picture day. There is a rational explanation for this, that the parents and staff know the students better. However, if your photographer is experienced in taking elementary school pictures, the kids will warm up to them very quickly. Plus, parents are not experienced in running a school picture day, that should be the job of the school photographer.

Cisco CCNP Certification Exam Training For The ONT Exam – QoS Models

A large part of your CCNP training for the ONT certification exam should be spent studying the various ways we can implement Quality of Service (QoS) on Cisco routers and switches. Before you start configuring your network’s devices, though, you’ve got to understand the three QoS models and their impact on your network. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of each.

If you don’t have a QoS model in place, you actually do. Best-effort QoS is just that – best-effort. No priority is given to any traffic. If your network is carrying voice or video traffic, best-effort is definitely not the way to go.

The Integrated Services model, more popularly known as IntServ, uses the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) to reserve network resources in advance of the data actually traveling across the network. Once the end-to-end bandwidth reservation is in place, the data is transmitted.

That sounds great, but there are some drawbacks. It’s a waste of bandwidth to have the entire end-to-end path reserved in advance. Additionally, IntServ isn’t as scalable a solution as we’d like. Everything we do on a router or switch has a cost of some kind, and in this case it’s RSVP overhead. One or two paths won’t cause much overhead, but as the number of reserved paths increases as a network becomes larger, the RSVP overhead can take its toll on the routers involved.

Differentiated Services (DiffServ) is the latest of the three models, and many would agree that it’s also the greatest. DiffServ doesn’t use RSVP, but instead uses Per-Hop Behavior (PHB) to allow each router across the network to examine the packet and decide what service level it should receive. With DiffServ, one router along the path from source to destination could consider a packet to be of the highest priority, while another router could consider it “just another packet”.

A term you hear often with DiffServ is “marking and classification”. Marking a packet is the process of assigning the packet a value reflecting the level of QoS it should receive, while classification is placing that packet into a queue in accordance with that level of QoS.

When it comes to marking, there are different values we can use to decide what value to mark the frame or packet with. In my experience, here are the four that are used most often:

o IP Precedence (IP Prec)

o Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP)

o CoS value

o Interface that received the data (ingress interface)

Which one you choose depends on your particular network’s needs, and of course, the OSI layer at which the marking is taking place. We’ll take a look at each of these methods in future CCNP ONT exam training tutorials!

Golf Course Types by Ownership

One of the things that a newcomer to the World of golf would probably like to know is what the difference is between different types of golf course. This question is more complicated than you may first imagine as there are really three different ways to express what category a particular golf course fits into.

The first is by setting and categories a course by whether it is set in heathland, woodland or by the ocean etc. The second type is by length, where the course is categorized essentially by the length of time it takes to play a round, so these types will be pitch & putt, full length or executive, so called because executives may not have time to play a round on a full length course of 18 holes. Most executive courses are only 9 holes.

In this article though we are going to look at how golf courses can be categorized by ownership. The above two types of categorization allow you to know what to expect when you turn up to play. However, this third type of categorization determines whether or not you will be allowed access to the course at all.

The following is not an exhaustive list of course types but these are the most popular types of course that you might come across.

Private Golf Courses are courses which are owned by a golf club and they only allow play by members of the club. If you aren’t a member of the club then you can’t play, unless of course you are lucky enough to be invited to play by someone who is already a member.

Public Golf Courses can be courses owned by private organizations or individuals or by other organizations such as local businesses. The key here is that the owner charges a fee for playing. Essentially this means that the course is open to be played by anyone who can afford to pay the fee.

Courses also exist which are essentially a combination of the above two. Club members can play at any time. The public are allowed to play but usually only on specific days of the week, or times of day.

Municipal golf course are owned by the local government. They operate like public golf courses but the money paid for the green fees goes to the them as opposed to a private individual or company.

Some residential areas have their own golf course which is designed to be played by the local residents only. They tend to be run by the community itself and as such are not open to the public.

Finally there is the resort golf course. Resort golf courses are owned and operated by a holiday resort or a hotel chain for the pleasure of their guests. Play may not be restricted to resort guests however, and so you may find some resort courses are open to the public in return for a fee.

Training Your Dog Or Puppy With Hand Signals

If you are looking at giving your dog an all-round training regime then you should include training with hand signals. Did you know that 60% of training is taken from body language cues? If you pay attention to what your body is doing when you are training your dog or puppy, you may find that there are already cues that they take from you.

For example, many people take off from the same foot when they are stepping off. If you are training your dog to heel, you will find that they are taking their cue off the actions of your feet rather than the voice command of heel.

Our voices change in volume and tone – our body language is much simpler to interpret by a dog. Dogs use body language to communicate with themselves, so it is how they are accustomed to giving and receiving communication – it’s hard wired into their DNA.

What are the steps to begin training with hand signals?

Train with hand signals as well as verbal first. Always use a short command, preferably one word. Be consistent – otherwise you will confuse your dog.

Teach your dog to sit. One way to do this is to hold their collar and raise a treat in front of their nose. The dog’s nose will follow the treat and his rear will hit the ground into a sit position. Use the verbal command “sit” to help the dog understand.

Once the basic action is understood, you can add the hand signal to the training. You should Stand up, and wave one open hand past the dog’s face toward your chest, palm up. Give the hand signal command again as you say the command “sit”.

Continue to use the voice command coupled with the hand signal until your dog understands. Then continue with the hand signal only. Any training takes time, but with persistence and patience you will be able to train your dog with hand signals.

Some Other Hand Signals You May Like To Try

Stay

Hold your palm towards their nose in a “stop” pose. Your dog should see the flat of your hand directly in front of their face.

Come

Hold your arm out like you are shaking someone’s hand, bend your elbow and pass your hand across your chest until you touch your opposite shoulder. Do this movement slowly – you want to communicate clearly to your dog.

Lay or drop

Place your hand in front of you with your hand flat and the palm facing downwards. Drop your hand with your palm still flat in front of the dog as though you are pushing down on something.

Initially you may need to exaggerate the movements and start further down at your dog’s eye level to be sure of gaining their attention. As your dog progresses you can stand more upright and give the command from your own comfortable height.

Training with Repetition Gets Results

Like everything, repetition and positive reinforcement will give you the best results. Consistency and clear signals will help your dog understand what you need from them in your training. You can train anywhere once your dog has the basics. Before you give them their food, when you let them into the house, before you go for a walk and put on their leash. The list is endless for opportunities for you to train your dog or puppy.

How Dog Training Schools Benefit Dog Socialization

At the dog training schools, canines are trained to behaved better having the obedience training and also remove their bad behaviors and be able to socialize along with some other people and canines. Regularly trainers at the training schools put the smartest canines ahead of their pack as their leader and will act as the example of great behavior for the other canines to follow.

When your canines has really bad habits and behavior it really needs to be trained at the dog training school to curb its behavior and attitude and to have it’s dog socialization training too. Since the training schools are best known as the great way to teach and train a canine of whatever breed and age that it has. Dog training schools regularly teach agility training for your canine’s exercise as well as obedience training and for good competition in some special classes.

When you have a new adult canine or puppy to be trained for the first time and that means that they have not been trained before, then it is recommended that you put your dogs at the canine training schools to get their best training and have the best result. Your dog will be trained well on their own dog socialization and be able to mingle well with other dogs even of different breeds and to people also. You can also do your training however owners do not really understand and know what to do without the direct guidance from the real trainer.

These schools will give the new owners more experience in knowing and understanding their dogs better than before. They will learn much about dog psychology and how to have socialization with some other dogs especially the younger puppies. With this obedience canine training the canine owners may join in the training directly along their dogs and with their trainers. This will develop the owner and the dog’s bond much stronger.

At this training dog school the trainers do not train the dogs only but the dog owners as well. Because dogs have the tendency and natural habit to obey and follow their pack leader and this must be the owners and not the trainers. And so the dog owners need to know and learn how to train their own dogs at home too. They must be able also to know some troubleshooting that may arise and the command to use in such training. Your dog will learn much and have the dog socialization training that it really needs at the training school.

It is really important for a puppy to get some socialization training when it is growing up to become friendly and a well behaved dog. Shy and lonely dogs are often alone and neglected and do not have other dogs to play with. These things will be erased at the training school and will be taught dog socialization successfully even for just some days only. The training school is the right place to get your dog for its training and also the safest and best place for it.

Careers After 50: The Value of a Temp Job!

Careers after 50: developing appropriate experience to qualify for a planned career.

You’ve researched and studied a variety of proposed new careers. After speaking to others working in the field you’ve narrowed your list down to one or two possible new careers. However, you’ve found both require specific experience that you need to acquire.

Other qualifications for a new career after 50, for example, can be learned through self-study, distance learning, formal education and working with mentors. However, now you have the dilemma of getting the necessary experience to qualify for new career.

Let’s suggest a way to put you in a position to successfully compete for job in the new changed career. You might want to consider working for a temp agency, to get some desired experience or to discover if the suggested career is right for you.

Ask around for referrals to the right temp agency. Some temp agencies are specialists only working with specific careers and industries.

Re-draft your resume to put your best foot forward depending on the career and job. For each career you might want to restrict only signing up with two or three temp agencies. As you progress and learn more about specific temp agencies you can adjust your focus so you are only working with the best agency relative to the planned career.

Make it a point to see the temp agency recruiter, have a face-to-face interview and learn all you can about their services. Don’t forget this is a job interview and you want to show the recruiter how you would present yourself to a prospective employer.

Find out in advance if you are required to show specific technical skills at the temp interview and spend some time brushing up on the required skills prior to the interview.

Do some research regarding prospective wages you might expect. You’ll probably be asked what wage range you would accept. Also, you should learn what possible benefits might be available.

Many times temp assignments can last six months or longer. Be sure to tell the temp agency the length of assignment you would accept.

If the temp job is in a career you wish to qualify for, you may leverage yourself into being offered a full- time position. Or you gain enough relevant experience to qualify for a full-time career with another employer.

Don’t expect that you’ll be immediately moved into a desired temp position. Continue to contact the temp agency, at least once a week, to let them know you’re available for placement.

So the value to you using a temp agency in qualifying for a new career after 50 is: (1) Gaining required work experience, (2) Possibly being offered a job in the desired new career, (3) Bringing in some income while you prepare to change careers, or (4) Finding out the new career is not for you so you can research additional opportunities.

An Introduction To Vocational Technical Schools

Vocational technical schools impart training in mechanical and industrial arts and practical sciences. Vocational technical schools are normally at the secondary-school levels, and these schools train students in a variety of skills, particularly in manual trades, health care, and computer technology. The world’s first technical school was founded in the year 1900.

Vocational technical schools prepare students both academically and vocationally for jobs involving practical science and modern technology. These schools put a lot of emphasis on the understanding and practical application of basic principles of science and mathematics.

The purpose of technical schools is to prepare graduates for occupations that are usually classified as above the skilled crafts but below the scientific or engineering professions. The objective of the technical school system is the provision of the best learning environment that is meant to ensure the student’s academic success, as well as the conduct of trade or technology learning.

Vocational technical schools train students in a variety of skilled jobs, as well as subjects such as English, combined algebra, geometry or trigonometry, World History, health or physical education, biology, Foundations of Science or Scientific Data Analysis, and mechanical or industrial, and Information Technology.

Vocational technical schools help inculcate in students and workers lifelong learning habits, such that they fulfill their working potential.
